Every block, pressed by hand, in Jaipur

Each dohar begins as plain cotton voile, stretched taut across a low wooden table. Carved teak blocks — some decades old — are dipped in natural dye and pressed one motif at a time, by artisans who've worked this craft for generations.

No two pieces print identically. The small shifts in registration and colour are not flaws to correct, but the signature of a textile made by hand rather than machine.
